Real Madrid kept their seven point lead at the top of the table after 18 matches with a 2-0 victory over Real Zaragoza on Sunday.
Some timely saves by goalkeeper Iker Casillas and goals by Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robinho helped the champs maintain their 100 percent record at the Bernabeu while also earning their 14th league win of the season.
Almost halfway through the season, Real sits seven points clear of second- placed Barcelona, who earned a win of their own on Saturday.
In other La Liga action Sunday, Sevilla, Real Valladolid and Athletic Madrid all earned 3-0 wins over Real Betis, Getafe and Deportivo, respectively, while Real Murcia blanked Osasuna 2-0 and Racing earned a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Valencia and Levante battled to a scoreless draw to round out the week's league fixtures. |
