| Real interested in Vucinic
Thursday, April 03, 2008
Real Madrid hold an interest in signing Roma striker Mirko Vucinic according to a report in the Madrid press on Thursday morning.
Vucinic played a key role in Roma's Champions League victory over Madrid, coming off the bench to ignite the comeback that saw them take a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu to book their place in the quarter finals, getting on the score-sheet in the process.
His match-winning performance on the night did not go unnoticed by officials at Los Blancos and the club could be set to make a move for the twenty-four year old striker in the summer, although Marca reports that he is not one of their primary transfer targets.
Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has requested a tall, powerful, strong and skillful striker in time for next season, and the 1.88m tall Vucinic could fit that mold if the club are unable to tie up the likes of Luis Fabiano, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu in recent months.
Vucinic is currently jointly owned by Lecce and Roma, with the ownership situation set to be resolved in the summer, and Madrid are thought to be content to wait in the wings to see how the talks play out before deciding on whether to make a move for the Montenegro international.
