Heinze wants Ronaldo at Real

Gabriel Heinze has spoken of his desire for former team mate Cristiano Ronaldo to join him at Real Madrid.
Heinze, 30, spent three years at Manchester United, alongside Ronaldo, winning a Premier League and League Cup before leaving the club last August and heading for the Spanish capital.
Despite enduring a difficult first season at Madrid where he has been plagued by injury, Heinze recovered to help his side win La Liga and has now urged his former team mate to join him in the Spanish capital.
Speaking about the Portuguese winger, who is locked in a transfer tug of war between current side Manchester United and Real Madrid, Heinze said: “If I had to pay for one player I would choose him.”
The Argentinean, who was good friends with Ronaldo during their time at Manchester United, then went on to say: “In Madrid we’d welcome him with open arms. I don’t think he’d have problems adapting to any team in the world. Players of his quality fit in anywhere.”
Heinze then went on to praise Ronaldo, who he clearly believes is one of the best players in the world: “I don’t think Ronaldo will get any better as a footballer. He’s already next to God in his ability!”
The former United man’s words are unlikely to go down well at Old Trafford and particularly with manager Sir Alex Ferguson. United are desperate to hold on to the winger who had just enjoyed a spectacular season, scoring 42 goals as his side won the Premier League and Champions League.
However this is not the first time that Heinze will have incurred Ferguson’s wrath. The defender tried to force through a move from Manchester United to rivals Liverpool last season, a sale that Ferguson expressly refused to sanction, before selling the full back to Real Madrid last summer. |
