Real Madrid start preseason with a win
Monday, July 28, 2008
The team coached by Bernd Schuster had a promising preseason debut following a 2-3 win over Austrian league leader Lask Linz; Baptista, Raul and Saviola scored the goals.
Nothing seems to have changed at Real Madrid FC. They are still depending on Guti's inspiration and Arjen Robben's good intentions due to missing players and a reinforcement draught.
Lask Linz are celebrating the 100th anniversary of their foundation with a crowded stadium, while Real Madrid CF make their fans have hopes when they are still enjoying UEFA Euro 2008 success.
So, the locals started the game better, and their first approach to the rival keeper ended up in the goal opening the score (Saurer scored at minute 14 with a header, which was impossible for keeper Dudek to save).
But Real Madrid had a quick reaction, especially after one of these plys where Guti is awarded the red card. He changes at a friendly either: after being fouled, he took the ball with his hands and threw it to the referee. fortunately, his brilliant game helps him get away with murder and, even though he's not in good shape, he was the creator of several goal chances.
Still, Raul missed two goal chances before Robben sent a cross to Baptista, who restore the equalizer at minute 21.
Van Nistelrooy, Saviola and Sneijder were a breathe of fresh air for the Spanish team, which took control of the game in the second half.
Saviola was in charge of finishing what Real Madrid started; he scored with the empty goal before the game was over after a penalty from Javi García. Mario Mijatovic turned it into goal because Pedja is fighting to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Iker Casillas', Sergio Ramos', Christoph Metzelder's and De la Red's return, plus Cannavaro and Robinho's recoveries, are expected to help Real Madrid start working as usual.
