Further injury worries for Real Madrid
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
The injury worries continued to mount for Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini on Tuesday with the news that he has lost defender Alvaro Arbeloa for the next two weeks with a knee injury.
The Spain international, who signed from Liverpool this summer, injured the internal ligaments of his right knee in Tuesday's training session.
He will miss Wednesday's Primera Liga clash away to Villarreal, the weekend game at home to Tenerife and the club's second Champions League group game, which is against Olympic Marseilles on Wednesday September 30.
Arbeloa is the fourth Real Madrid player to suffer physical problems. Fellow defender Christoph Metzelder is out for three weeks with a torn calf muscle.
Xabi Alonso will be out for a further week with a knock on his calf, while Ruud Van Nistelrooy misses the next six weeks after tearing a thigh muscle on Sunday. |
