Barca better than Real
Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he thinks rivals FC Barcelona is a better team than his own.

Speaking in the magazine France Football, Ronaldo confessed that the resigning Primera Liga and European Champion plays better football that his big spending outfit.

Real Madrid spent around 258 million Euros on new signings over the summer with players such as Ronaldo and Brazilian ace Kaka arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Madrid has still not reached the level of fast flowing football Barcelona usually produces and currently trails the Catalan side in the BBVA Primera Liga.

"It's true. Barcelona plays better football, but that is because it is more consolidated as a team," said the Portuguese striker, who was optimistic that would change in the future.

"Barcelona is a better team than we are today, but the real question is, 'who will be the best in the end?' We'll have to wait and see," he commented.

"We are still not playing as a team, we still have work to do on that front, but we are on the right track. There is a good team spirit and we will be in better form in a few months," he promised.

Madrid has been criticised at the start of the season for not playing good football and several matches have been won after spells of poor play were resolved by moments of individual brilliance. Ronaldo said that was not a problem for him.

"One of my objectives is to play well, but what I want to do is win. If I can do both then so much the better, but what I really want is to win," he stressed.

Finally he discussed the other players who have been nominated alongside him for the prestigious Balon d'Or award.

"There are several players who could win, for example Xavi Hernandez, Samuel Eto'o and logically (Leo) Messi, who is the favourite."

"He has won the Champions League and the Spanish League title, if he wins it is because he deserves to win," said Ronaldo generously.
