Albiol: Gap with Barca "significant" Tuesday, January 19, 2010
Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol has admitted that the five point gap between his team and Barcelona is worrying.
Speaking in the aftermath of the Los Blancos 1-0 reverse against Athletic Bilbao, Albiol said that his side had no margin for error if they were to mount a serious challenge for the La Liga title.
Real have 41 points from 18 matches while the Catalans have notched up 46 in the same number of matches with their most recent match resulting in a 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla.
"The five points is a significant gap and we have no margin for error," he said whiole talking to Marca.
However the 24-year-old was adamant that Real deserved at least a point for all their dominance against Bilbao.
"We deserved something more. We dominated the whole game, except for the first five minutes. We have tried everything to win, but the ball would not go in.
"They [Athletic Bilbao] have done a great job defensively and also as the minutes passed with the score in their favour they were gaining confidence, but we deserved a goal."
