Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 4-1

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid maintained their perfect La Liga record at home this season with a 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday (6th February).
Following Barcelona's three-nil win over Atletico Madrid earlier in the weekend, Real Madrid desperately needed to beat Real Sociedad at the Bernebeu on Sunday to keep the pressure on their title rivals.
It took Jose Mourinho's side just under eight minutes to deliver the opening blow. Real Sociedad midfielder Gorka Elustondo failed to clear an innocuous-looking cross and Kaka capitalised.
The Brazilian striker has struggled since returning from injury but his perfectly-placed left foot strike was a reminder of his rare skill. Los Blancos continued to dominate.
In the 21st minute, the visitors gave Cristiano Ronaldo too much room on the edge of the penalty area and the Portuguese winger made them pay. Ronaldo struck again just before the break when he headed home Mesut Ozil's corner.
It was the 26-year-old's 24th league goal of the season, putting him level at the top of list with Barca star Lionel Messi. Real Sociedad were given a glimmer of hope courtesy of an own goal by Alvaro Arbeloa in the 72nd minute.
Goalkeeper Iker Casillas did well to save Raul Tamudo's shot but the ball rebounded off Arbeloa into the back of the net.
Emmanuel Adebayor completed the 4-1 rout in the 89th minute with his first league goal since joining Madrid on loan from English Premier League club Manchester City.
Real Madrid's 11th La Liga win from as many home matches this season left them seven points behind a rampant Barcelona.
