Real Madrid will reportedly make a £54million summer bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who is also a target for Chelsea
Real Madrid earlier this week reportedly demanded first refusal on the midfielder should Arsenal decide to sell at the end of the season, but according to The Sun, Los Blancos are now preparing a £54m bid for the 23-year-old.
Reports in Spain suggest Real hope that by offering striker Karim Benzema - who has been a target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for some time - or midfielder Sergio Canales in part-exchange, that a deal can be done, with Real coach Jose Mourinho, general manager Jorge Valdano and president Florentino Perez deciding to make a "no-holds-barred" move for the Spain international.
Spanish sources last week claimed Real’s director general, Jose Angel Sanchez, has already spoken to Fabregas’s advisers after Perez sanctioned a summer deal.
Fabregas has long been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Catalan giants have ruled themselves out of the running as they are unwilling to go above £35m for the midfielder.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is believed to be ready to offer £50m for Fabregas, who is one of a number of players being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas is under contract at the Emirates until 2015.
